Kate Parker - Kate on Tiri for About.jpg

Kate is of Ngati Parewaeono, Ngati Maniapoto, English and Greek descent.  She grew up roaming the bush and riding horses in Kaeo in the far north of Aotearoa.

She studied theatre in Melbourne, Australia at The John Bolton Theatre School and returned to co-found NZ’s Red Leap Theatre www.redleaptheatre.co.nz .  Leaving Red Leap in 2015 she is currently working as a visual artist.  Living in West Auckland with her family she enjoys watching wildlife, being near the forest and the sea and finding ways to support the  planet. One seedling at a time.

One consistent drive I have as a maker is to add voice to the rising wave of positive change on our planet.

A highlight of my career has been re-creating Shaun Tan’s wordless novel ‘The Arrival’ into an internationally acclaimed theatre show.”
